We are seeking an experienced MEP Inspector to join our team for a 6-month contract assignment on an underground utilities infrastructure and roads project in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will have over 6 years of experience in MEP inspections, with at least 3 years in the UAE, particularly in underground utilities and roadworks projects. While this is a short-term assignment, there may be potential for reassignment to future projects, although no guarantees can be made.

Your new role, what’s involved?

  • MEP Inspections: Conduct inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations in the underground utilities and roadworks project, ensuring that all work meets design specifications, local regulations, and quality standards.
  • Quality Control & Assurance: Ensure all MEP works (e.g., utility connections, pipework, electrical conduits, etc.) comply with the relevant specifications, drawings, and local standards. Identify and report non-compliance or defects in the MEP installations.
  • Site Supervision: Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems in the underground utilities infrastructure, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Oversee and assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP systems, ensuring that all systems are functional and meet operational standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, including site observations, test results, and any issues related to MEP works. Report regularly to the project manager and engineering team on inspection results and non-conformities.
  • Coordination with Contractors & Engineers: Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and engineers to ensure that MEP systems are installed correctly, on time, and in compliance with all project specifications.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all MEP installation work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Monitor on-site safety practices and report any unsafe working conditions.
  • Variation Management: Assess any variations to the MEP works and ensure they are documented, evaluated, and processed according to project procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any technical issues or challenges related to MEP systems, offering solutions and recommendations to ensure project continuity.
  • Liaison with Stakeholders: Communicate with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve any MEP-related issues promptly and effectively.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Education: A Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Over 6 years of professional experience in MEP inspection, with at least 3 years of experience working in the UAE, particularly on underground utilities and roadworks projects.
    • Experience in inspecting MEP works related to underground utilities infrastructure, such as water, drainage, electrical systems, and roadworks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including installation, testing, and commissioning procedures.
    • Familiarity with UAE construction regulations and industry standards for MEP works.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, ensuring that all work is inspected thoroughly, and any discrepancies or non-compliance are documented.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage). Ability to communicate effectively with the project team, contractors, and clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address technical issues related to MEP works and provide effective solutions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety standards in construction and MEP installations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and best practices.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and project requirements.
