Job Description

A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization’s databases. This involves ensuring the security, availability, and integrity of the data stored in the databases.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading database management systems (DBMS).
  • Creating and managing user accounts and access levels for databases.
  • Designing and implementing database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Monitoring database performance and tuning database configurations for optimal performance.
  • Ensuring data security by implementing access controls, encryption, and other security measures.
  • Troubleshooting database errors and performance issues.
  • Collaborating with developers to design and optimize database schemas and queries.
  • Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans for databases.
  • Keeping up-to-date with new database technologies and best practices.
  • Documenting database policies, procedures, and configurations.

A successful database administrator should have strong technical skills in database management, security, and troubleshooting. They should also have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as they often work closely with developers, IT staff, and other stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is typically required for this role, along with relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Systems.
  • Exadata Implementation.
  • Multi-Cloud (Oracle,Azure,AWS Professional level).
  • 3-6 years’ experience in a similar role.
